Genesis of the album

It was at the Murs-Erigné media library, a town near Angers, that I had a decisive meeting on May 6, 2023. That evening, the boss of the media library, Thierry Dupont, invited Laurent Thibault to discuss the he glorious time when he was in charge of the Château d'Hérouville studio and the opening of his next studio. At the end of the evening in front of the petits fours, I met Wilfried Chevallier, a drummer from Nantes. I told him of my desire to record my second album. Wilfried listens to me attentively. The appointment is made for the summer holidays.

Realization

During the summer, I got to know the people involved in the project. There will be Christophe Langlais on bass, Frantz Taillier on sound, all friends of drummer Wilfried Chevalier from Nantes. The team is formed. Rehearsals begin. The atmosphere is excellent.

The record

Eleven songs were selected. On the advice of Frantz Taillier, the studio will be the Garage Hermétique in Rezé, in the suburbs of Nantes. I meet the boss, Olivier Moreau, and his sound engineer, Pierre Le Gac, who prove to be both extraordinarily competent and particularly dedicated people.

It was directed by Vincent Louvet.

The spirit of the album

The album contains so-called “text” songs. I take particular care in writing my texts. I prefer rich rhyme to sufficient rhyme, sufficient rhyme to poor rhyme, and poor rhyme to no rhyme at all. I am also very sensitive to the rhythm of the sentence. My repertoire covers humorous, eccentric, serious, realistic, historical, sentimental subjects... my musical culture comes from jazz. This can be felt in certain accompaniments.
